According to gender, cause arbitrarily the restriction of freedom in public or private life and all kinds of physical, sexual and mental behaviors that hurt and harm to woman are the violence against women. The Mirabal sisters are known with their struggle for freedom and human rights. On 25 November 1960, the sisters were assassinated in an accident as they were being driven to visit their husbands who were in prison. Therefore, the sisters, referred to as the "Inolvidables Mariposas", the "Unforgettable Butterflies" have become a symbol against victimization of women. They have become the symbol of both popular and feminist resistance. So November 25 is accepted The International Day for The Elimination of Violence against Women since 1999. Researches on violence against women around the world bring forth a human catastrophe. Men who cause this disaster;

• - are addicted,
• - have personality disorder,
• - do not have capability of empathy,
• - are strict and normative about gender roles of women and men,
• - have superego and conscience disorder,
• - think that they are unique and they have rights to make everything,
• - think that women are second-class so they underestimate,
• - think that violence is a method of coping with problems of life,
• - have low self-esteem,
• - grow in families that are abuse and violence,
• - are jealous too,
• - have the problems such as privacy, abandonment, losses in family, dependence on person and feeling of insecurity.

Violence against woman is a violation of the human rights of all girls and women in our country as well as all over the world. As Cinsel Sağlık Enstitü Derneği (CİSED) sex therapists, we celebrate The International Day for The Elimination of Violence against Women that is celebrated on November 25 every year in order to be able to resolve the problems of mentality and violence in the word and in Turkey.
